The Curtain Fig

July 7, 2010

The 2000 year old Curtain Fig is a good place to look for birds and animals. There are often Tree Kangaroos around and they are occasionally seen by visitors. There's a good range of forest birds, especially if the fig is in fruit (which it didn't seem to be when we visited).

One of the more conspicuous creatures that occur around the tree are the massive Golden Orb Web Spiders, some 4 inches across. It was amazing how many people don't even notice them just a metre or so away, as they focus their gaze on the long-distance.
